Individual coaching
What is coaching?
Coaching is the process of helping an individual fulfil their potential and achieve their personal goals. The aim is to help the client become clear about their current issues, set meaningful outcomes and goals and then facilitate the client’s progress towards and achievement of these.

Coaching is appropriate for people at any stage in their life or career. The only requirement of the client is that they are committed to their own personal development and goal achievement.

What coaching is not
Coaching is not about advice giving – instead the coach helps the client reach their own conclusions and decide their own solutions and goals. It is not mentoring as it does not assume a senior/junior or more experienced/more novice relationship – but instead is carried out on the basis of an equal partnership between adults. It is a process for the personal development of a client who is assumed to be resourceful and therefore does not involve notions of the client being “unhealthy” or being a “patient” who needs curing or fixing.
Benefits of coaching
People's lives are becoming increasingly more complicated and expectations on each of us are growing. Our time has become a treasured commodity. If you want to move forward in your life and achieve meaningful personal goals - specific work or career-related goals or even larger "life goals" - then having a good coach helps you get there quicker and more easily. They can also help you avoid making costly trial and error mistakes.

A coach will help you clarify what you want and assist you in making some specific and actionable goals. A good coach will provide you with two things it is very difficult to provide for yourself - objectivity about your personal situation and accountability and feedback on your progress towards your goals. However talented and resourceful you may be, it is always difficult to get the necessary distance and objectivity on your own life situation, particularly if you are busily tied up in the day to day running of your life, with not much time to stop and stare. It can also be difficult for friends and family to provide a useful level of objectivity as they tend to be too close.
My approach to coaching
I recognise that people are different and they approach their own development in a variety of ways and they also like to be coached in a way that suits their own personal style. It is therefore important to offer bespoke coaching to suit the client’s personality and personal style as well as their unique needs. I aim to value each client’s individuality and respect their personal situation that led them to seek coaching. I also respect clients’ resourcefulness and believe that they can use this to help themselves move forwards to overcome any blocks or limiting beliefs they may have and then progress to achieve their goals. My job is to facilitate that process by being objective, listening fully and asking non–directive questions to help the client move themselves on. Sometimes it is the simplest of questions that can be the most effective in helping the client get some clarity on their own situation and what they need to do next.
Coaching packages available:
I offer a bespoke coaching service for clients dependent on their personal needs. However, most clients benefit from a series of coaching sessions a few weeks apart.

I can offer face to face coaching or telephone coaching or a mixture of the two. An initial face to face session for approximately 90 minutes followed up by 3 – 4 telephone coaching sessions of an hour is a useful package that suits many people.

Costs will vary depending on whether clients are seeking face to face coaching and whether they require an initial self-awareness assessment such as the Myers Briggs personality profile. I aim to make my charges reasonable and fair and am committed to offering excellent value for money to clients who are investing in their own development.

Coaching is offered in this way for any coaching requirement:
  • Work or performance coaching
  • Eecutive or leadership coaching
  • Career coaching
  • Life planning and personal coaching
  • Retirement planning
